GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.- FWF’s employee spotlight highlights Madison Thayer. Thayer was hired in 2020 and is a valued member of our team. In her position as an Operations Manager, Thayer provides elite service to our customers with her tenacious work ethic and positive attitude. We had the opportunity to learn more about her experience and the journey that led her to FWF.

How did you get to where you are today?

I graduated in December 2019 from Central Michigan University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a double major in Marketing and Psychology. I grew up on the east side of Michigan and I was looking for somewhere new to live at the start of my career. FWF impressed me with their culture and growth opportunity, so I took the leap and moved to Grand Rapids. I started at FWF in January 2020 as a Logistics Consultant. In April of 2020, I moved over to Dedicated Operations and as of June, I am currently the Operations Manager for my team.

What brought you to FWF?

The culture

Every time I had an interview, I became more impressed by the culture of the company. The way in which FWF employees care for each other was a key contributor for me when I accepted the position.

Three words to best describe FWF:

  • Support
  • Opportunity
  • Energy

What FWF company value is most important to you and why?

LEADERSHIP.

The leaders in the office are what make it a great place to work. They care about the success and growth of every employee as well as the personal well-being of each individual.

What is your favorite part of your job?

My favorite part of my job is my team. They make every day at the office enjoyable.

What is your motto or personal mantra?

“The formula of happiness and success is just being actually yourself in the most vivid way you can.”

–Meryl Streep

What advice would you give to someone interested in beginning their career in logistics and transportation?

My advice would be to ask questions and seek out information to learn as much as you can. Logistics and transportation is one of the largest industries with a lot of moving parts. The industry keeps the economy mobile and is affected by everything ranging from weather to politics. To better understand a career in logistics and transportation, asking questions and learning new facts is important.
