FWF Partners with American Cancer Society, 2021

Pink ribbon on black background.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.- For the fourth consecutive year, FWF is proud to partner with the American Cancer Society for their annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer initiative.

Making Strides is a movement aimed at raising awareness in communities to fight against breast cancer. Making Strides of West Michigan initiative helps to raise money for research funding, providing patients places to stay near treatment facilities, giving patient services, and allowing a live cancer helpline that runs 24/7.

This year, Saturday, October 16th, FWF will be volunteering at the Making Strides of West Michigan event in Grand Rapids along with gathering donations to directly impact the fight against breast cancer.

Breast Cancer

Breast cancer became the most common cancer globally as of 2021, accounting for 12% of all new annual cancer cases worldwide. To put this into perspective, one in eight women in the United States will develop breast cancer in their lifetime.

According to Making Strides, in 2021 roughly 281,500 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed and around 49,290 new cases of carcinoma in situ (CIS) will be diagnosed in women (CIS is non-invasive and is the earliest form of breast cancer).

FWF, Honored to Partner

Today, Making Strides is the largest network of breast cancer events in the nation. FWF is honored to partner with the American Cancer Society for the fourth year in a row to help raise awareness within our community.

What Our Community Partners Say

“FWF is an energetic and dedicated group of goal reachers! Every year they graciously support the American Cancer Society with their donations and time and they have been such a joy to work with. Organized, passionate and always willing to do more.”
